LONGEVITY

AND THE 4 PRIMARY HALLMARKS OF AGING

Banner Image

The 4 Primary Hallmarks of Aging—nutrient sensing, microbiome, mitochondrial function, and chronic inflammation—are tightly interconnected. Dysregulation in one often leads to cascading effects that amplify the others, creating a vicious cycle that drives aging. Addressing these factors together (e.g., through dietary interventions, improving gut health, managing inflammation, and promoting mitochondrial function) is becoming a focus of aging research and anti-aging therapies.

Nutrient Sensing

Food is information that either turns on your longevity genes or killer genes depending on what you put in your mouth each day and is the key to a healthy microbiome. This is the primary cause of inflammation due to "insulin resistance"

Microbiome

You are only 10% human—90% of the cells in your body are mostly bacteria, viruses, and
parasites situated in your gut. Although these “gut buddies” can be affected by several factors, a healthy diet is the key to a healthy microbiome. The Gut-Brain Connection is the result of the many neurotransmitters and other signaling molecules made in the microbiome.

Mitochondria

In addition to making about 88 lbs of ATP of energy each day, the major function of mitochondria is as signaling molecules. Your mitochondria have mtDNA, i.e., mitochondrial DNA inherited from your mother that is different from your nDNA in your cells that was inherited from both parents. Both have developed together over the past 2 billion years—before any living life we know of had developed

Inflammation

Chronic inflammation (as distinct from acute inflammation, which is mostly a healing reaction) results because of mitochondrial dysfunction which effects the immune system, causing systemic inflammation and disease throughout the body.

Nutrient Sensing

Because our lifestyle makes up 80% of our health, nutrient sensing is influenced by our food choices and daily habits.

Chronic Inflammation

Eliminating chronic inflammation reduces the risk of disease, improves immune function, and supports healthier aging.

4 PRIMARY HALLMARKS OF AGING THERAPEUTIC BUNDLES

The combination of these supplements addresses several primary hallmarks of aging, contributing to improved healthspan (the period of life spent in good health) and lifespan (the total length of life). Each supplement serves a specific purpose in maintaining or restoring bodily functions, cellular health, and overall vitality.

Life Expectancy Is Going Down In America

Our median lifespan in the USA fell from a high of 78.9 years in 2019 to 76.6 years in 2020 (before COVID-19).

According to the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA 2023), men in America now have a life expectancy of 73. Men in Switzerland and Japan are living 83 and 84 years, respectively.

Despite spending 2–3 times more than any other country on healthcare and prescribing more drugs than any country in the world (19 prescriptions per person per year), our lifespan (and healthspan) continues to fall.

  • 45% of kids are obese or overweight.

  • 35% of kids are prediabetic.

  • 74% of adults are obese or overweight.

  • 60% of adults are diabetic or prediabetic.

  • 93% of the population is 'insulin resistant' (due to faulty nutrition).

  • 71% of young adults don’t qualify for the military due to health issues.

  • Between 1973 and 2011, male sperm count and testosterone levels fell by more than 50%.

  • Between 1990 and 2019, cancer in those under 50 increased by 79%.

  • Our median lifespan fell from a high of 78.9 years in 2019 to 76.6 years in 2020 (before COVID).

  • 80% of us die from chronic metabolic disease (insulin resistance).

  • 85% of all healthcare costs are due to 'insulin resistance.'

  • The USA spends 18% of the GDP on healthcare and ranks 11th on the World Index of Health. (The current healthcare system is not sustainable).

LONGEVITY

These factors collectively influence our pace of aging and longevity. Optimizing them through healthy lifestyle choices and targeted interventions improves healthspan and reduces the risk of current or future chronic diseases. Longevity and insulin resistance management go hand in hand; neglecting either will compromise the success of longevity interventions.
